On 7 August, a fire broke out on the Zim Charleston container ship while it was off the coast of Colombo, Sri Lanka. The ship left on 8 August but then soon turned back. It was birthed on the 11th, and as of the 16th, it remained birthed. It has been reported that some 300 containers were likely damaged. An investigation is underway to “ascertain where it is safe to discharge containers from the affected hold.” As of 17th August, the vessel remained moored in a Colombo port.
